Domain Registration

Generic Domains (.com, .net, .org, .blog, .online, .services, .marketing)

We can register all the most popular domain extensions, the well-established favourites and the new trendy extensions for your business. Most orders are processed within a few hours. We regularly review our domain pricing to make sure our clients get the best pricing in their currency.

.UK Domains (.uk, .co.uk, .org.uk) [United Kingdom]

The .UK namespace is managed by the registry Nominet. We are a Channel Partner for Nominet and provide hands-on direct support for all the above .UK extensions. The registration process is quick and effortless. Please submit new orders via our order page and existing domain names can be extended on our renewals page.

Most orders are processed instantly (but please allow up to 1 working day as a small number of orders need manual processing and checks). Once your domain name has been registered, you'll receive a confirmation email and can manage the domain name via your Maxer Host client area.

News flash! Nominet have introduced a new Data Quality Improvement Programme. As part of this, they will validate the registrant details provided, including your full name, address and other contact details. Therefore you may receive emails from Nominet if your contact information cannot be verified. Please do not ignore the emails, as failure to verify your domain name will result in it being suspended!

.IE Domains [island of Ireland]

The .IE Domain Registry (IEDR) manages the .IE namespace for the island of Ireland. The .IE extension is open to any individual, company or organisation across the island. We also accept orders from foreign companies and trademark holders that can show proof of trade to/from the island of Ireland (for example invoices, an existing website, a contract with an Irish entity). Maxer Host is the 6th largest .IE registrar (out of ~110 providers) with clients in every city and county in Ireland. Our dedicated IE Domains Team are here to help with the registration process.

The IE Domain Registry (IEDR) is a managed registry, meaning it manually verifies and processes each domain registration on an individual basis. When first applying for a .ie domain name you need to provide some supporting information so the IEDR can verify your claim to the name and your connection with Ireland.

News flash! From 21 March 2018 the need to explain why you want a particular name (also called ‘claim to the name’) when registering a .ie domain name will be removed. This means that anyone with a connection to Ireland can register any available .ie domain name on a first-come, first-served basis. As we approach the date, please consider what domain names are important to you and your business, and safeguard your names by registering them before the deadline!

Other geographic domains

It's important to register domain extensions for your business in every country/region where you have clients or competitors! You should consider how the business might grow in the years to come and you should protect not just your main brand name, but any trademarks or slogans.

Ideally you should have the same domain name across the different extensions, but that's not always possible. You can register domain names like .fr (France), .it (Italy) if you have a presence in the European Union, you can register .de (Germany) and .uk (United Kingdom) if you have a local 'service address' (which we can provide). For other extensions like .ca (Canada), .eu (Europe) or .asia (Asia Pacific region) you must have an address in the country/region. Please contact our team if you need more information on any of the country specific domains.

Domain Transfers

Transferring your domain(s) gives you an opportunity to get a better deal for the continued renewal of your domain. Transferring to Maxer Host gives you all the benefits of registering a domain and gives you access to update your own DNS records(on request).

To transfer any of the .UK domain family extensions, place an order with us to transfer your domain(s) then you must ask your current provider to change the IPS Tag on the domain to SPIRAL. Once this has been actioned, the transfer will be complete.

To transfer any other domain extension, you will need to get an EPP code or an authcode from your current provider to transfer to us. Once you have received the code, please place a domain transfer order for your domain(s) and our team will send the code and relevant information to the appropriate registry. A domain can take up to seven (7) working days to complete. You will receive a notification when your domain has successfully transferred.

Delightful Domain Tips

Privacy Protection

All domains are registered to the owners directly. The details used for registration are on a public database and you can perform a whois lookup from many different sites on the web. The registrant information will always show and this allows anyone wanting to contact someone regarding a site to get the information easily. Sometimes you may not want your contact information shown on a public database and we understand that! Maxer Host offer a WHOIS ID protection service as an add on for specific domain extensions. It will show on the order screen as you progress through. If there is no option for WHOIS opt-out or ID protection, the registrant information cannot be hidden for that particular domain extension.

What ID protection does is mask the registrants information with a company who redirects email communications to your real email address that was used for registration. In other words, instead of showing your email address, full name, address and other contact details, it shows a WHOIS Privacy company and a specific dedicated email address that will forward to the email address used to sign up. Please note, you can only opt out if you are a non-trading individual. if you are a business, your domain registrant information cannot be hidden.

Brand Security

Think of domains like commercial property. You have a great location (domain) but another one pops up that would be great for your business. You can afford it and can fit it out with supplies you already have (your existing website!) but you hold off and don’t make a decision. Then a rival company starts up and they buy that location (domain). Then a few years later they buy a second property (another domain!). Now they have two locations in areas you didn't buy and they begin to expand and grow much quicker than you. You now can’t afford to buy that location off them because it’s a premium spot for you, just like buying an already registered domain. See how this can have a detrimental effect on business development? Domain extensions are your shopfronts, make sure you use them and get them while they are available!

What Domain?

This question is not an easy one to answer. However we’ve set up a 6 point plan that covers the main points when registering a domain:

1. Make it Easy to Type
Finding a domain name that's easy to type is critical to online success. If you use slang, abbreviations or words with multiple spellings, it may be harder for customers to find your site so bear that in mind when deciding on a domain name.

2. Keep it Short
If your domain name is long and complex, you risk customers mistyping or misspelling it. Short and simple is the way to go.

3. Stick to your Brand
Keep your brand in your online presence. Do you have a tagline you use a lot? Do you sell a product range that could expand and so you need to me broader, or do you have a very niche selection of products or services that won’t change?

4. Target Your Area
If your business is local, consider including your city or state in your domain name to make it easy for local customers to find and remember.

5. Avoid Numbers and Hyphens
Numbers and hyphens are often misunderstood — people who hear your website address especially on radio ad’s for example, don’t know if you're using a numeral (5) or it's spelled out (five) or they misplace or forget the dash. If you need these in your domain, register the different variations (5 and five for example) to be safe!

6. Use an Appropriate Domain Name Extension
Extensions such as .COM or .CO.UK, are the most popular. These can have specific uses, so make sure to choose one that works for your business. .COM is the most popular, but depending on your location or brand image other domain names like .CO.UK, .IE, .ORG & .NET are also very popular.
New extensions such as .CLOTHING, .GALLERY, .PHOTOGRAPHY, .COFFEE and many more! Tip: You don't need to build a website for every domain. Just forward any additional domains to your primary website.
